Two Marek Projects Win 2016 Mayor’s Design Award

Marek is proud to have been a team member of two projects that have received a 2016 Mayor’s Design Award: Tippecanoe Public Library and the patio at Cafe Corazon. Our work for the library project entailed landscape architecture and green infrastructure design, including permeable pavers and bioswales. At Cafe Corazon, the client wanted to add more seating and make use of the site’s scenic location along the Beerline Trail, a popular biking and pedestrian trail through Riverwest, To see a complete list of winners, click here. Tippecanoe Public Library Receives Top Projects of 2015 Award

In 2015, Milwaukee Public Library System’s Tippecanoe Branch had its first major renovation since it was built in 1969. The branch was modernized to offer the latest technology as well as updated departments. In addition to the interior improvements, the exterior property was also improved. Marek was contracted by Engberg Anderson to provide landscape architecture and green infrastructure design services, which included devleoping a plan with permeable pavers and bioswales. We are happy to have been involved in this award-winning project! Here’s a video of the winners.

Mitchell Park Domes’ Green Infrastructure Project Wins the BizTimes I.Q. Award for Innovation

Milwaukee County’s Mitchell Park Domes has won its second award this year for its Green Infrastructure renovations: the BizTimes I.Q. Award for Innovation. Marek Landscaping installed the Entryway Rainwater Harvesting System, which includes 10,000 square feet of permeable pavers and four large cisterns. Shorewood Residential Bluff Stabilization Featured in Filtrexx® Newsletter

Filtrexx Sustainable Technologies is featuring a Shorewood Residential Bluff Stabilization project that Marek recently completed in its April on-line newsletter. Marek utilized a 90-foot long by 15-foot high GreenLoxx® LivingWall system to help stabilize the slope. The project received a 2015 Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Award of Merit in the Residential Category.

Maryland Avenue Montessori Named MMSD Green Luminary

This past summer we designed and installed a Sensory Rain Garden at Maryland Avenue Montessori School, which is this month’s Green Luminary, as designated by Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. DVA’s Community Resource Center wins Milwaukee Business Journal Real Estate Award

Mitchell Park Domes Honored as MMSD Green Luminary

Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is highlighting local inspiring leaders in sustainability through its Green Luminary program. The Milwaukee County Mitchell Park Domes, which has made numerous sustainable design upgrades over the last five years, is this month’s honoree. Milwaukee County hired Marek Landscaping to construct a state-of-the-art entryway rainwater harvesting system, comprised of 10,000 sf of permeable paving, and basins for water storage which feed reclaimed stormwater to decorative fountains. We are proud to be a part of the Domes’ Green Infrastructure initiatives! Here’s a video about the project.
