Construction Crew Leader
Marek Landscaping, LLC is a design-build firm founded in 1996 that provides sustainable design, construction, and stewardship. We focus on natural areas management, shoreline stabilization, green infrastructure, trails, and parks. With low-impact design methods, we use native plants and natural materials to design, construct, and support ecologically functional systems for public, private, and NGO clients. Current projects include bluff, shoreline, and wetland restorations.

We are currently seeking a Construction Crew Leader to:
- Work independently and as part of a team, following instruction from the Project Manager and designers
- Assisting Construction Foreman or Project Manager with scheduling projects and materials, and daily tasks for construction crew
- Natural leadership skills, and the ability to set and stick to daily goals for the crew
- Ability to determine necessary equipment for the days task and efficiently load and unload said materials, tools, and equipment daily
- Lead a crew when the Construction Foreman is absent, and work alongside landscape crew members on larger projects under the direction of the Construction Foreman or direct supervisor
- Ability to operate or be willing to learn to operate the proper operation of various tools and equipment: chainsaws, jackhammers, power tools, skid steers, compact excavators, tractors, and other specialized equipment
- Perform maintenance on tools and equipment: inspections, lubricating, trouble shooting, and cleaning
- Assist with the installation of sustainably designed residential and commercial hardscape and softscape features
- Natural stone & paver patio, walkways, and driveways
- Erosion control
- Native landscape plantings and installations
- Retaining walls
- Green roofs
- Ponds, fountains, streams, and other water features
- Participate in native habitat restoration projects when needed
- Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, adaptable, and has a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent; higher education in architecture a plus
- Have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license
- Effective communication and strong time management skills
- Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, often on uneven ground and steep slopes, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs continuously throughout the day
- Ability to learn methods and techniques related to sustainable landscape construction
- Degree in Natural Resource or Horticultural related field a plus
- Agricultural or Construction background a plus
