Black Locust Retaining Wall

Our construction team built this unique retaining wall made from black locust planks and posts to restore a degraded and heavily eroded section of our client’s property and improve the overall aesthetic of the space. The retaining wall is tiered and sectioned to create several terraces for planting were there was not space to do so previously.

Black Locust is one of our favorite materials to create with. Durable and rot-resistant, it makes an excellent choice of lumber for boardwalks, decks, posts for handrails or lighting, and various other structures, such as this retaining wall. We typically harvest wood this invasive tree in the Winter months alongside the removal of other non-desirable woody species.
